Making flashcards
Flashcards have a question on the front and the answer on the back. Lernbuddy can make them for you from a school text or from a topic – or you write them yourself.
Cards from a text
- Open the Flashcards tab.
- Under Topic, write what it's about, for example "Photosynthesis". That's the name you'll find the cards under later.
- Paste your text into the big box – a paragraph from your textbook or your own notes.
- Tap From this text.
Lernbuddy reads the text bit by bit and writes cards for it. The first cards show up while it's still working.
Cards from just a topic
Sometimes you don't have a text, just a topic: "irregular verbs", "animal vocabulary" or "capitals of Africa". Leave the text box empty, write only the topic and tap Just from the topic.
Careful: When the AI writes cards "from memory", it can get things wrong. Look at the cards closely before you save them.
Check first, then save
New cards first land in New cards (not saved yet). There you can
- change a card with ✎ if something's not right,
- delete it with ✕ if you don't need it.
With + Add card you write a card yourself. When everything looks good, tap Save all. Discard throws all the new cards away.
Your topics
Your topics lists every topic you've saved cards for. Tap a topic to see its cards, change them or delete them. ← Topics takes you back.
Your topics also show up as small buttons below the topic box. Tap one, and new cards go into that same topic.
Good cards
- One question per card. "Capital of Spain?" is better than "Capitals of Spain, Italy and Poland?".
- Short answers. One word or a few words can be checked exactly in the quiz.
- Several forms with commas. For verbs, write for example "went, gone". In the quiz you then need to know both forms.
Suggestions from your buddy
Sometimes Lernbuddy suggests other answers for a saved card that might also be right – for example "Also count as correct: dreamt?" on a card that says "dreamed". Accept makes that answer count as correct in the quiz from now on, Reject doesn't. More about this in How answers are checked.
