Chatting with your buddy

In the chat you can ask your buddy questions about school. It's like a patient tutor: it doesn't just tell you the answer, it gives you hints and asks you questions until you work it out yourself.

How it works

  1. Open the Chat tab.
  2. Type your question in the box at the bottom, for example: "I don't get how to simplify fractions."
  3. Tap Send or press Enter.

Your buddy answers word by word while it "thinks". The very first answer can take a few seconds.

Why doesn't it just tell me the answer?

Because you remember something much better when you've figured it out yourself. So your buddy asks back: "What do you already know?" or "Which number divides both?". Answer it – even if you're not sure. It helps you along step by step.

Good questions

  • Say what you already know. "I know 4/8 is the same as 1/2, but not why" helps your buddy more than "fractions?".
  • One thing at a time. Two short questions are better than one long one.
  • Ask when you don't understand something. "What does simplify mean?" is a great question.

Starting over

New chat clears the conversation so you can start fresh. That's handy when you switch topics. Conversations aren't saved – when you close Lernbuddy, they're gone.

Your buddy can be wrong

Your buddy is an AI, and AIs make mistakes sometimes. If something seems odd, ask your teacher or your parents.

What you don't need to write

Your buddy doesn't need your name, your school or your address – and it never asks for them. Everything you write stays on your computer.
