Results

The results of the last run appear below the editor.

The tabs in the result area

  • Result 1 (250 rows), Result 2 …: one tab per result set. The numbering continues across GO batches.
  • Messages: output from SQL Server, such as PRINT output, errors and "(n rows affected)".
  • Plan: the execution plan, if one was requested, see Execution plans.
  • Statistics: pages read and times per statement, see IO and time statistics.

The status line shows rows affected, duration, logical reads and CPU time.

Large results

The grid is virtualized: even tens of thousands of rows scroll smoothly. At most as many rows are loaded as set under Max result rows (default 10,000). If the result was cut, it says "truncated — n rows in total". See Settings.

Export

  • CSV: comma-separated file.
  • TSV: tab-separated, ideal for pasting straight into Excel.

Both contain only the loaded rows. For a complete export of a large table, raise the row limit first.

Copying

Right-clicking a row offers:

  • Copy row with column names
  • Copy row
  • Copy column names

Editing rows

Individual rows can be changed directly: right-click → Edit row….

This only works if the query is a simple SELECT against a single table with a primary key, so without JOIN, GROUP BY, UNION or aggregates. Otherwise the dialog reports that the query is not editable.

Change the values in the dialog. Below them is the generated UPDATE statement, which sets only the changed columns and finds the row by its primary key. Preview shows it, Run UPDATE writes the change to the database.
